Information Collected

This website uses Google Analytics to gather anonymous information from visitors by use of JavaScript. This information includes:

  1. location and language
  2. browser and operating system
  3. screen resolution and browsing habits (within this site only)
  4. the referring site or link (or search keywords)

For consultations or contacting me by email, your email address is collected temporarily.

See Google's Privacy Policy for more information on Analytics.

How Information is Used

The information gathered from Analytics is used only to improve your browsing experience and let me know if any pages need overhauling or to determine future topics for discussion.

Emails, names, phone numbers, and addresses are only stored online temporarily before they are either: a) deleted, or b) added to my note pad (literally, a note pad, not the application) for future contact.

All information is held in strict confidence – I will not sell information to any third party.

Opting Out

At any time, you're welcome to opt out of the information collecting on this site. I have set things up so that Google Analytics respects browser "Do Not Track" settings by not being loaded.

If you want to be even more secure about it (or try to opt out of information collection for other websites*), your options are:

  1. Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out add-on.
  2. Modern browsers have a "Do Not Track" option, which you can enable.
  3. Most browsers also have a "Private Browsing" option. Enabling this is much like setting the "Do Not Track" option.
  4. Alternatively, you can disable JavaScript within your browser, though this may hurt functionality on many websites nowadays.
  5. Or, my preferred method, disable Google Analytics completely within the HOSTS file.

For more information about these options, see my article here (though it applies to other browsers). Since the formatting is sub-par in the "Blocking with the HOSTS file" section (near the end), the addition to the hosts file is:

  # Analytics blocking
  127.0.0.1 google-analytics.com
  127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com
  127.0.0.1 ssl.google-analytics.com

If you have trouble with any of these options and need some assistance, don't hesitate to email.

* Note that I can't guarantee any interactions with other websites.

Commitment to Data Security

As above, any identifiable information from you is recorded offline as quickly as possible then electronically destroyed. I'm something of a security nut – physical and electronic safeguards are always in place for any information.

Commitment To Children's Privacy

This is obligatory for privacy policies (though no less true): I never collect or maintain information at this website from those I actually know are under 13, and no part of this website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Also obligatory: I have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act and thus will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent. (Not that I would without this statement, see above.)

Contact Information

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience so that I can address them. More contact information is provided on the Contact Page, though email is typically the fastest way to reach me.
